End of Year SMARTR Outcome

The percentage of students who earn a 31 or better in the number sense and computation category of the SOL will increase as follows:

Increase category score 31+ in number sense from:

  • 4th grade - from 74% to 88%
  • 5th grade  - from 85% to 88%
  • 6th grade - from 82% to 88%

Increase category score 31+ in computation and estimation from:

  • 4th grade - from 72% to 88%
  • 5th grade  - from 86% to 90%
  • 6th grade - from 85% to 90%

The percentage of all students passing the 2018 Math Standards of Learning assessment will increase from 91% to at least 94% when compared to the 2017 Math Standards of Learning assessment.

  • Strategy 1: Proactive Instructional Planning
  • Strategy 2: Thorough unpacking of the new FCPS math pacing guide with a focus on number sense and computation gaps from the previous grade(s).
  • Strategy 3: Use of number lines to reinforce number sense concepts.

End of Year SMARTR Outcome

The percentage of students who scored below the 40th percentile on the Universal Screener in fall of 2017 in math will decrease from 21% to at least 15% by June 2018.

  • Strategy 1: Proactive Instructional Planning - Access to Rigor
  • Strategy 2: Continued implementation of a school-wide intervention and enrichment system, instruction based on higher level (more rigorous) questioning, and appropriate placement (inclusion v. pull out) during the regular math block.

End of Year SMARTR Outcome

By spring 2018, at least 90% of students will demonstrate at least one year of growth in the vocabulary as well as the comprehension categories of the Universal Screener when compared to their Fall 2017 results.

The percentage of students who scored below the 40th percentile on the Universal Screener in fall of 2017 will decrease from 21% to 15% by Spring 2018.

  • Strategy 2: Implement specialized reading programs that target individual literacy needs for students.
  • Strategy 3: Data Digging Dialogues
