Kings Glen emphasizes both academic excellence and personal growth to students as the only 4th-6th grade elementary school in Fairfax County.   Teachers and staff are recognized for going above and beyond to support activities that build community, promote sportsmanship, and encourage artistic expression.  We foster cultural diversity and are committed to our partnership with military connected students and families.  

Academic Excellence

Kings Glen Elementary School has been recognized by the Virginia Department of Education as a High Performing School. Our programs meet the academic needs of all students, from our local full-time Advanced Academic Program to our Enhanced Autism classrooms. Our Young Scholars program consists of enrichment programs including weekly meetings, a before-school robotics club, and field trips.  Many students participate in monthly national Continental Math League competitions to deepen problem solving skills. Our teachers connect with professionals who work directly in fields we study to bring the curriculum to life-sometimes resulting in short interesting parent presentations.  

Stong Military Partnership

Kings Glen Elementary School is proud to have been a Purple Star School since 2022! We support our military-connected students and families through special events and other initiatives throughout the year that have included receiving a DoDEA Grant for Code UP!, a program to enhance STEAM learning experiences. We also hosted a friendly family competition called the Battle of the Branches. 

Activities for Every Interest

Kings Glen Elementary School has a diverse range of student programs, clubs, extracurricular activities, and student leadership initiatives. This includes our Get2Green Student Leadership Team, Student Leadership Council, and Student Ambassadors. Gator Games are held early in the year to build community and promote sportsmanship. 

We Love Our Families!

Kings Glen Elementary School believes in strong family and community partnerships! Our school motto is "GATOR Together" and we work as a team with one another, our students and families to educate and support our students academically, socially, and emotionally. We have hosted an annual Family Math Night, Book Fair, and support students and families with individualized social and emotional assistance. We appreciate the diversity of our school community, to include the over 22 world languages spoken in the households of families.

Emphasis on the Arts

We offer opportunities for students to find their creative passions and hone their talents. This includes our King's Jesters Theater Program, which builds the acting, dancing, singing, stage management, set design, lighting, and collaboration skills of our students. Students participate in Area Band, Area Orchestra, Parent Orchestra, All County Chorus and Solo and Ensemble Festival. They also have the opportunity to showcase their work in the Lake Braddock Pyramid Art Show. Over 90% of Kings Glen Elementary School students actively participate in our band, strings (orchestra), and chorus programs!

Dedicated Staff

Our wonderful teachers and staff stay with us for many years, and we are grateful for their dedication! Kings Glen Elementary School teachers and staff have been recognized by FCPS and by our community for their excellence. Teachers engage in our Colleague Mentorship program to learn and grow from one another. Teachers go above and beyond to engage students at school. They participate in a variety of professional development opportunities and volunteer time to support after school activities. 

Strong School Spirit

We have annual events which build community, positivity, and collaboration through friendly competition, including our Gator Games and Winter Staff vs Students volleyball game, and Field Day. 

Flexible and Collaborative Spaces

Kings Glen Elementary School has flexible and collaborative learning environments, including our updated library design and ergonomic furniture. Each classroom provides a Calming Corner with tools and strategies for any student to use. Our updated playground is equipped with adaptive and diverse structures that promote physical activity and social development.

Outdoor Learning

Our green spaces provide hands-on learning opportunities. Our Get2Green program empowers students as environmental stewards and leaders. Students manage recycling programs including plastic bag and pop tab collection. Kings Glen Elementary School has an edible garden as well as our beautiful pollinator garden with a compost collector.

Two Schools, One Community

Kings Glen is the only 4-6 Elementary School in FCPS! We have many collaborative events with our sister school (Kings Park ES), including the Baskets and Bingo fundraiser, Ice Cream Social, Earth Day, and the Kings Park vs. Kings Glen Kickball Game! We provide students with Mentorship opportunities that build relationships between our two schools which have included 3rd grade garden field trip and Young Scholars field trip to Kings Glen, as well as a literacy collaboration between 6th and 3rd graders involving reading and the writing process.
