WOW! What a great game!!
From players to supervisors, from custodians to office staff, and from musicians to parents - the annual volleyball game at Kings Glen was a success.

Every year a group of string players serenade the staff and students of Kings Glen as the come into the school for the last day before break. It is the most wonderful way to begin the morning.

Neither cold, nor rain, nor wind and fog kept our 4th graders from a visit to Mt Vernon. In studying Colonial America, students are lucky to live near some of the most historically related sites around.

The Kings Glen Band Concert was lovely. Students and teachers performed for students and then later in the evening for parents. It was a great way to get into holiday spirits.

Pictures from the PTA meeting last night….we were serenaded and grounded for our meeting by our wonderful Gators, current and past students.

Parents and other classes were invited in and students in Mrs Rode's class had an opportunity to share their efforts before the final approach to "Mars." "What made you think of that?" "What was your favorite part of this project." "What did you learn about astronomy and problem solving?" So many questions and plenty of answers. Observers learned that in addition to the rovers and their mission, students created slide shows to explain their work and sequence of effort. Students learned to use project boards to be organized and efficient. They designed mission badges to represent their projects.

How many planets are there? Which one is the hottest? Why is it hotter than others?
These 6th graders learned about planets, space and astronomy. Then they designed and created detailed games to showcase their learning. Other classes were invited in to play and learn. Fun for everyone.

Students in Mrs. Rode’s class have started on an adventure that transcends this planet. They have not only built Mars Rovers, but they have designed, programmed, and engineered specialized models that collect specific kinds of information during the exploration of Mars. So maybe “Mars” is in a back hallway at Kings Glen, but don’t be fooled in believing they are not collecting data of varying types using specialized digital tools atop programmed robots ...

Kings Glen is proud of our patrols and crossing guard who make walking safe and easy for students headed to school each morning and each afternoon.

Congratulations to Sixth Grade Teacher Lisa Rode, ESOL Teacher Jennifer Houck, ABA Instructional Assistant Peter Henry, and Assistant Principal Christine Ritter who were recognized at the 2019 FCPS Honors Ceremony!

From tossing balloons to relays with rain sticks, field day at Kings Glen was a blast. Braving the hot sun, students enjoyed competing and exercising and playing on the fields of the school yard. Mrs Opsut organized and planned the activities with parents and teachers supporting. The day was wildly successful.
